New Look for 2018

Chicago Skyline Night

It’s a chilly late-January morning outside my hotel window. The neighboring skyscrapers appear almost alive, square scales of gray and brown gleaming in the morning sun against the blue of Lake Michigan beyond. As I watch, thoughts of Chicago as the “second city” echo around my head. Some say the name come from Chicago’s population size (relative to New York, in this case), but that hasn’t been the case for more than 75 years now (Los Angles gets that title now). Others say the name is based on Chicago being the second choice (again to New York) in the selection for the 1893 World’s Fair, but Chicago actually won that. Still others say that the name comes from the city getting a “do-over” – rebuilding anew after the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. I think I like this last one the best.

Although we don’t have Mrs. O’Leary’s cow here (or any cows for that matter), we too are launching anew this month with a new website. We took some time away from blogging for a bit (first as a break from technology and then ironically dove deep into our tech), but we think you’ll be happy with the result. What we do hasn’t changed – the blog and our group/team workshop pages are still here and you can still schedule your coaching online – we just updated things a bit (like improving your experience by dramatically reducing the amount of advertising on the blog). Still it wouldn’t be a proper “launch” without some additional substance – and we couldn’t be more happy to be releasing two new PointAbove program families: E-Course Explorer and Adventures.

E-Course Explorer Program

We’re busily approaching the Spring assembling our Explorer Program – a series of E-Courses and weekend workshops to make the PointAbove message and tools to more accessible to more folks without loosing the personal touch we’re known for. With the help of some cool technology, these convenient online courses give you effective, interactive course with 24/7 access, learning support, and access to private online course groups. Explore your interests whenever the time is right – at work, at home, at night, and on weekends. We’ll have more details on the entire series soon, but we’re starting with Explorer 1: Outfitting.

Every great adventure starts with the proper outfitting! Whether you’re looking to get started right away, just wanting to get to know us better, or preparing to join us on an upcoming Adventure, Explorer 1 is the place to begin. This 4 Module (8 Lesson) self-paced course introduces the PointAbove fundamentals: Personal Strengths, Mindfulness, Neuro-Linguistics, and Interpersonal Effectiveness – along with all (downloadable) course materials and access to the online Facebook Group included. There are no special fees or ongoing program costs, its expressly designed to be low cost (and we’re even discounting the launch of Explorer 1). More details soon.

Adventures

We’ve been participating in Adventures for a while now – from solitude on the glaciers of Denali to the timeless sea-cliffs of Molokai. And if there’s any common reaction we get, from client conversations to cocktail parties, it’s “how do we do that too?” Well… we have an answer.

Starting in the Spring, we’re opening our trips (“Meaningful Adventures”) up to anyone looking for personal development. We open registration first to clients and those who subscribe to updates (Moloka’i 2018 sold out before reaching the public, so no pressure but you might want to consider this). Here are the highlights:

  • We’ve found that the best Adventures occur with small groups – nimble parties that reach amazing destinations – allowing you a more personal and intimate interaction with all you encounter.
  • Each Adventure is designed to be immersive and turn-key, with nothing left to plan but your arrival. Plus our talented, knowledgeable guides and guest experts will accompany you every step of the way.
  • Each of our Adventures is unique but they always promote personal care & wellness while placing a strong emphasis on fellowship. We know that the people you meet on Adventure will be some of the most valued names on your contact list (and they often become places on the map to visit next). These folks provide you a glimpse into another life, present you with new and refreshing perspectives, and remind you that the way you’ve been looking at the world isn’t the way everybody else does.
  • We don’t do ordinary. Your stories will be cool… really cool.

Now we’re not a travel company – we’d rather you think of us as an extraordinary experience company because we believe that all the challenges and joys that Meaningful Adventure lays at your feet help you discover who you are in a way that’s only possible when you escape the ordinary.

Which brings me full-circle back to Chicago, where I’m enjoying the view (and my morning coffee) on a site-visit in preparation for our first Cityscape Adventure. Thats right, you can leave the hiking boots behind for this one. We’ll be returning to the Second City this August for More Than A Game: Faith & Baseball – a program exploring the relationship between baseball and belief, contemplating such core values as loyalty, teamwork, and resilience – including a Cubs home game, a White Sox home game, and a Brewers home game, with plenty of “executive level” excursions along the way. You can find all the details here.

We hope you enjoy the new site. Send us an email and et us know what you think (or just add a comment below). Make 2018 the year that you reach a PointAbove!
